The Air Max 90 was initially released in 1990 and was formerly referred to as the Air Max III until 2000 when it had been retro’d and renamed the Air Max 90 following the year it released. Legendary Nike designer Tinker Hatfield first introduced the ‘Infrared’ colorway which now is among the most most iconic colorway to date. The Air Max 90 is an integral part of Tinker’s Air Max legacy which is infamous to be the first with the exposed air bubble. What I really like most relating to this silhouette are the condition and overall structure. The overlays and how you can color block different panels to create different colorways. In addition, it happens to be the best Air Max silhouette.

My very first couple of Air Max 90 were the 2010 ‘Infrared’. I recall purchasing them at the Nike Running store at the Grove in LA. That’s when my obsession with Air Max’s sparked. It had been like love initially sight. After those, I recall getting GR pairs and choosing the ‘Volt’ colorway in 2012 with $100 that my father gave me for Christmas. It’s so cool having the ability to reminisce on the best silhouette. My grail would need to be either the Bacon, Atmos Duck Camo or Atmos Black Tiger.

You really can style Air Max 90s anyway you want. The shoe is such a classic that you could either dress it up or dress it down. Whether you put them on with oversized pants and tee or with a girly dress through the summer, you’re bound to still look fresh.

Sizing & Fit:

I’d say the Air Max 90 are true to size. I’m usually a women’s 8.5 and these fit me perfectly. Not tight, not loose. Definitely go together with your true size.

I find Air Max 90s to be one of the most comfortable AM silhouettes. In comparison with others, they are definitely up top on comfort. With it being the 30th anniversary of the AM90, a whole lot of different colorways have already been coming out this season and I’ve of course been picking right up pairs and honestly, they seem to be to have gotten convenient than older pairs.

Similar to my other shoes, I think it is better to just put them on rather than clean them after each use. I love when my shoes get naturally dirty since it gives them character. Personally I find Air Max look better when they’re dirty and worn in (in addition they get convenient the more you put them on). The mesh tends to get started on getting dirty prior to the remaining shoe and even though it sort of bugs me initially, I learn to think it’s great during all its stages of life.

Obviously the AM90 was introduced in 1990 and following on from the AM1 the look was impressive as a result of it’s increased air unit and launched with the bold OG Infrared colorway. Through the years the shoe has changed slightly regarding the air unit (airbag) size, the look and the materials all with running performance at heart.

The most recent innovation for the AM90 may be the ‘recraft’ to celebrate the 30th anniversary, the silhouette was altered slightly to create it more streamlined and take it back again to its more OG form, the most noticeable change may be the toebox condition and the lowered mudguard.

I will always have a location in my own heart for 90’s because they were the first sneakers I purchased for myself, the look is timeless and the comfort is 10/10.

My first ever couple of AM90’s were a White/Black/Obsidian pair from the youngsters portion of my high-street sports shop – I still keep these things kicking about somewhere but they’re definitely beaters now as I’ve had them for like 13 years.

The grails AM90’s I’ve in my collection will be the Valentine’s 02′, Infrareds 05′ & the King of the Mountain 08’s. What I still want will be the AM90 x DQM ‘Bacon’ 04′, the AM90 x Dizzee Rascal 09′ and the ‘Courier Denim’.

Just how I style my kicks really is determined by my mood, and for me personally, sneakers go with everything so that’s never a concern. My whole thing is ‘STAY COZY’ so usually you will discover me in some sort of oversized joggers/tracksuit situation, but if I am going for a far more smart everyday look, then I’ll wear a straight leg trouser (like Carhartt pants) with a hoodie and an extended smart jacket. In the summertime though, it’s straight-up legs out so a dress and 90’s, or cycling shorts and oversized tee with 90’s. I love wearing monochrome day-to-day because it’s easy, but easily want a pop of color I’ll pick some colorful 90’s and also have an accent from the sneakers in my own outfit to balance it out (usually my bags – I really like color coordinating).

Sizing & Fit:

I’ve always found Air Max 90’s fit true-to-size. The one thing I’d say is when you have small feet like me then you can certainly probably cop some grade school or kids kicks. I usually have to go a half size up if I’m buying GS as the overall fit is more narrow and smaller, but yeah for a Women’s shoe then ‘true to size’ usually works.
