Hi, what’s going on everyone! It’s Nigel with Honest Soles back here again with another sneaker review that will help you decide if some sneakers is right for you personally. Now, we are reviewing the Adidas Yung 1.

This running footwear first made its debut in 2018, and I’d say its appearance was at the optimum time possible as that was when the ‘dad shoe’ trend was catching on.

Since that time, this bulky sneaker has caught the attention of sneaker enthusiasts and is currently largely used as a lifestyle sneaker, though it was actually suitable for running. Through the years, a variety of colorways are also released.

Putting all of the hype noise aside, just how do these sneakers fare for running or lifestyle use? That’s what we’re going to learn today! Let’s dive right in…

  1. Top features of the Adidas Yung 1
As always, we’ll start with a break down of all the key top features of this sneaker to assist you have an improved understanding of what switches into its making.

Upper
Adidas Yung 1 Console Pack
The upper consists of 3 different layers of material stitched together, which is pretty unique for me. What I like relating to this is that different layers all carry different colours but have the ability to blend well together to provide a sick design. The random mixture of suede, leather and mesh upon this sneaker also helps it be more interesting.

This unique mixture of material and colours could however be considered a flaw of the sneaker. Some users have commented that the colours on the upper are often stained onto the other person and so require careful cleaning. Personally I’ve not encountered this matter yet, but I’ll update the review upon this pointer if some of that changes.

Appearance aside, breathability is pretty decent too. Initially, I assumed that the layers of material on the upper would compromise the breathability of the shoe. Thankfully, I was wrong. The upper still provides great breathability and that means you won’t sweat your feet off when taking these shoes out for a run.

The upper upon this sneaker offers great strechability aswell, giving me a good comfortable fit while allowing satisfactory room for toe movements.

Midsole

The midsole is nothing fancy, manufactured from the most common EVA foam. In comparison to other midsole technology from Adidas (including the BOOST technology), the Adidas Yung 1 would give lesser support and bounce. But don’t misunderstand me, the midsole still offers reliable performance and comfort, not the best.

Outsole
Having took these shoes for a run, I could safely say that the outsole of the shoes offer great traction. This will be a advantage for you personally runners out there, as the grip on these feels amazing irrespective of terrain.

Another indicate note is that the outsole is thicker than usual and includes a pattern created to last. And that means you won’t need to worry about the shoe losing traction easily as time passes.

  1. Comfort
For me, the Adidas Yung 1 is a fairly comfortable sneaker. Using its stretchy upper and heavy padding around the collar, I really like that sneaker offers a comfortable fit. The forefoot area also offers more room to go around than usual, which is very good news for anybody with wider feet. Of course, obtaining the right size is vital to ensuring maximum comfort when rocking these sneakers. We’ll touch more on sizing down the road..
  2. Style / Usability
The Adidas Yung 1 is made for running purposes but is basically used as a lifestyle sneaker. This couldn’t get any better, having a set of sneakers which you can use not merely to rock your look also for running.

For running, I’d say these sneakers make a reasonably decent running shoe. As stated above, they feature great breathability and stretch, decent support and bounce, rather than to mention, it really is one durable shoe. I’ve tried these on for 3 runs now and I’m pretty content with its performance. Sure, it isn’t the best running shoe but also for what it provides given its good deal, I’ll say it’s satisfactory enough. More on the price below..

Style wise, these sneakers certainly are a perfect addition to the ‘dad shoe’ trend. Many have commented these sneakers resemble the Adidas Yeezy Boost 700 but I actually just like the Adidas Yung 1 better. The color mixture appeals more if you ask me and I find the overall design more unique. But that’s just me.. (what do you consider?).

Anyways, there sneakers certainly are a great addition to your #kicksoftheday and would surely let you rock many different outfits. Plus, there are many colourways so that you can decide on so I’m sure you’ll find the one which fits you.

  1. Sizing
The Adidas Yung 1 runs bigger than usual, which isn’t surprising considering its bulky look. I went a complete size down on these sneakers to acquire a comfortable snug fit. But that’s me with my narrow feet. In most cases, I think it will be safe to go half to 1 size down.

To place things into perspective, I’m a US 9 for the Adidas Ultra Boost and Nike Air Max 97. I also wear US 8-8.5 for the Adidas NMD and Nike Air Force 1. Hope that can help you have an improved idea on sizing!

  1. Cost
The Adidas Yung 1 posesses pretty affordable retail price of $120.

On top of that, as this sneaker has been released for some time now, you will get them from most trusted online retailers for only $70!!

Even on online marketplaces like Amazon, you can get these sneakers at typically $80.
