So it‘s been some time since I did so a performance review on a lifestyle sneaker. It just an excessive amount of basketball performers that are developing one after another, so it’s an extremely tough task to find time really. But enough excuses.
Today I’m returning with the sneaker that requires a really important place not merely in today’s sneaker world but also in the complete fashion industry – meet up with the adidas Pharrell Williams Tennis Hu.
This past year adidas & Pharrell Williams did an initial collaboration on the Pharrell x adidas NMD PEOPLE sneaker which quickly became just about the most popular sneaker in 2016. Following this successful run, this season adidas x Pharrell collaboration was reised to some other level by creating a totally signature silhouette.
Let’s see what they’ll bring to the table!

TWO OPTIONS TO SELECT FROM
This specific colorway features more premium Primeknit upper with Noeprene & Leather hits on the heel and tongue areas. But for many who want to save a lttle bit of money without quitting the key performance features, the Mesh option may be the way to go.
Now the Primeknit upper didn’t bring any surprises at all – perfect fit, pure comfort & lightweight feel. First class quality and experience each and every time on each and every pair.
The Knit on the toe area is a lttle bit looser, in order that way you’re getting that sock like stretchiness, and also, improved breathability. As the remaining shoe beginning with the midfoot features more dens knit to create some structure & put in a little foot containment. So you’re obtaining the best of both worlds.
OLD SCHOOL SETUP
I’m not likely to lie, it was a fairly tough mission for me personally to hop out of BOOST cushioning again onto the old school EVA midsole. But after a few good walks in them, my foot accepted that and it felt decent.
Of course, the EVA cushioning is way way behind BOOST and even BOUNCE tooling, nonetheless it still gives you slightly noticeable impact protection in the heel area, where in fact the midsole may be the thickest. Which means this isn’t the worst scenario you could get, it certainly isn’t. To be honest, the Tennis Hu did perform way much better than the Stan Smith’s, for me.
MADE SIMPLY FOR CASUAL WEARING
We got a distinctive pattern which goes throughout both midsole & outsole by creating an extremely dope, signature turn to it. It’s about those details, man.
Now looking from performance perspective, there isn’t much to speak about really because the adidas Tennis Hu is a lifestyle sneaker. What may i say, you can be all set on any sort of surface so long as you keep them from serious activities.
The rubber compound on these isn’t the most durable however, not the weakest aswell, in a single word – acceptable. Although, there’re two strategically located green zones that has a thicker rubber for additional strength generally in most needed areas.
So the primary feature apart from unique style surely got to be that incredibly lightweight construction which possesses the most seamless fit I’ve ever experienced in my own life. It just mind blowing… 6.5 ounces? That’s crazy light.
As I stated before, the Primeknit upper correctly wraps your foot giving you the most notable notch comfort & stretchability to support any sort of foot. In addition, great breathability through the entire whole construction makes this an ideal summer sneaker for everybody.
This time around adidas did everything right, so true to size may be the strategy to use. Narrow footers, wide footers, it doesn’t matter.
NO SUPPORT IS NECESSARY
Again, that is a lifestyle sneaker. You merely start your chill mode, throw the adidas Tennis Hu’s on your own feet and that’s it, you’re completely safe place. And that’s what I’m always looking & expect out of every single lifestyle shoe – just pure comfort. It just my own opinion, but I believe a whole lot of you will acknowledge this.
So as you almost certainly already guested, there aren’t any support features at all. ZERO. Just somewhat tighter knit in the midfoot for additional foot containment and that’s just about it.
However, if you like to feel some sort of containment around your foot, then you can certainly go with the Mesh option which is somewhat more supportive.
The adidas Pharrell Williams Tennis Hu is a bit of art. I‘m discussing signature logos, patches all around the shoe and a good graphic reflexology-inspired sockliner. It’s a masterpiece. It truly is.
Now so far as the performance goes, it’s the same drill. Awesome performance in just about all of the areas. The only problem will be the outdated EVA midsole which, for me, no more belongs in today’s sneaker world. Maybe we will have a BOOST version of the? Who knows. It could be dope tho.
Besides that, the shoe does perform phenomenal – incredibly lightweight construction, pure comfort, sock like fit and a lot more than great breathability to go with all this.
Grab them if you need to own greater than a regular couple of sneakers.
